Video Material Specifications

ECI can accept picture assets in any of the following formats:

  • Beta SP tapes (VITC required)
  • Digi Beta tapes (VITC required)
  • DVCam/Mini DVCam tapes (SMPTE timecode required)
  • VHS tapes (VITC/BITC required)
  • MPEG1 files (BITC required)
  • AVI files (BITC required)
  • DVD-Video/MPEG 2 (BITC required)
  • QuickTime files (BITC required)
  • WMV files (BITC required)

The timecode on the working tapes provided should always be as on the master tape.

Supplying Video for Blu-Ray Subtitling

To create subtitles for Blu-ray or HD material in general, please supply a video reference on DVD or an mpg1 clip.

  • If supplying a DVD-r, include visible time code from the original HD master and specify if the DVD-r was created as PAL or NTSC.

  • If supplying mpg1 clip, include visible time code from the original HD master and create the mpg1 clip with the same frame rate as the original master: 24/23.976 – 25 (50i) – 30/29.97 (60/59.98i)
